The 2025-26 Daido Life SV.LEAGUE Women’s season opened today, bringing Japan’s top volleyball teams back to the court for another year of competition.
At Ookini Arena Maishima in Osaka, defending champions Osaka Marvelous met Victorina Himeji, the reigning Empress’s Cup winners. Himeji took the first set before Osaka evened the score, but Himeji regained momentum to win the match 3–1 (25–19, 21–25, 25–21, 25–10).
In Kurobe City, the Kurobe Aqua Fairies Toyama faced the Okayama Seagulls in a tight opening match. After a closely fought first set that went to deuce, Kurobe pulled ahead and claimed a 3–1 victory (26–24, 25–20, 22–25, 25–13).
League matches will continue nationwide on October 11 (Saturday), with the men’s season set to begin on October 24 (Friday), featuring a matchup between Osaka Blueteon and Suntory Sunbirds Osaka.
Before the women’s opening match in Osaka, a championship ring ceremony recognized last season’s league winners. Osaka Marvelous head coach Daisuke Sakai and captain Mizuki Tanaka received their championship rings from SV.LEAGUE Chairman Masaaki Okawa. The Suntory Sunbirds Osaka will be presented with their rings on November 1 at Asue Arena Osaka.
