Back then, in 1974, not a single player of this Polish squad was born. Even the coach Antiga was born two years after the biggest success of the red and whites…

Exactly 40 years ago, Poland was the champion of the world.

Team made of Ryszard Bosek, Wiesław Czaja, Wiesław Gawłowski, Stanisław Gościniak, Marek Karbarz, Mirosław Rybaczewski, Włodzimierz Sadalski, Aleksander Skiba, Edward Skorek, Włodzimierz Stefański, Tomasz Wójtowicz, and Zbigniew Zarzycki, which was led by a coach Hubert Jerzy Wagner, has won the most valuable prize at the World Championship in Mexico in 1974…

And, it was the only gold medal for Poland speaking about this competition… The only gold medal so far!

This amazing generation of Polish volleyball players made of Piotr Nowakowski, Michal Winiarski, Dawid Konarski, Pawel Zagumny, Karol Kłos, Andrzej Wrona, Mariusz Wlazły, Fabian Drzyzga, Michal Kubiak, Krzysztof Ignaczak, Pawel Zatorski, Marcin Możdżonek, Mateusz Mika and Rafal Buszek, with the French coach Stephane Antiga by the court, has managed to repeat that success in 2014.

And just to be everything even better – Poland has done it at home this time!

Once again, congratulations to Poland on this huge success.
