The second seed Kuzbass Kemerovo silenced nearly 6,000 spectators at the Sibur Arena in Saint Petersburg to down the home side of Zenit in Game 2 of the 2018/19 Superliga playoff semifinals and sweep the series. Thanks to Viktor Poletaev who scored 24 points, including eight aces (!) and four kill blocks, Kuzbass won by a 3-1 (25-19, 25-17, 23-25, 25-23) and advanced to their first-ever national championship finals. Cuban Oreol Camejo scored 20 points for Zenit of which he notched half the points in the third set which his team clinched. Aleksandr Volkov set up five kill blocks.
The top seed Zenit Kazan achieved another straight-set win against the No.4 seed Fakel Novy Urengoy to close the series with a 2-0. Maksim Mikhaylov top-scored for the reigning champions with 24 points, while Dmitriy Volkov noted 13 for Fakel.

The whole season, the greatest achievement of our team, Galatasaray, was the elimination of this powerful Russian team of Kuzbass Kemerovo at CEV Cup. I wish them success against Kazan team at the finals.
