ITA W: Supersonic Egonu puts down 38 points, helping Novara advance to finals

Igor Gorgonzola Novara secured a spot in the 2018/19 Italian Women’s Volleyball Championship finals.

After playing the third tie-break in four games of the semifinal series against the No.3 seed Savino Del Bene Scandicci, the second seed Igor Gorgonzola Novara secured a place in the 2018/19 Samsung Volley Cup A1 playoff finals. Novara won the series by a 3-1 and joined Imoco Volley Conegliano in the title fight.

Thanks to a supersonic Paola Egonu, who finished the match with 38 points (four kill blocks), Novara prevailed against Scandicci by a 25-16, 21-25, 13-25, 25-21, 21-19 in more than two hours. The tie-break was filled with intensity as both teams canceled three match points of the rivals. Swedish Isabelle Haak scored 24 points for Scandicci. Lucia Bosetti made 81% positive reception (25, one error, 62% perfect).
