The Cuban-born player Camejo applied for the change of the sports nationality in order to play for Russia National Team, a year ago, and it is no longer news. Furthermore, by a decree of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, on June 13, 2018, Camejo was granted Russian citizenship soon afterward.

The decision of the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) on his change of the sports nationality is still pending. In case the decision is positive, Camejo will gain the right to compete for “Zbornaya“ in the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo because a two-year waiting period set by the FIVB when a player changes sports nationality will expire just in time for Camejo to play the Tokyo Games.

The news is that the current club of an outside hitter, Zenit Saint-Petersburg, informed that Camejo came into the possession of the Russian passport and officially became the citizen of the Russian Federation. He will even take part in the voting on the elections of the governor of Saint-Petersburg on September 8.
