Lokomotiv ended a six-game losing streak to the titleholders Dinamo Moscow (that’s exactly how many times these two met overall) and beat them on the road in Round 5 of the 2019/20 Superliga Parimatch regular season. Just like in the Men’s competition, Super Cup was set to be played during the league. Since it was determined that the first meeting of these two teams will be valid for the Superkubok title, it means that the team from Kaliningrad (league’s runners-up) has won their first historical trophy (they were established a year ago): 3-0 (25-22, 26-24, 25-22). Cuban Ana Cleger tallied 18 points for Lokomotiv, while Yuliya Podskalnaya made 6 kill blocks. Lokomotiv remained at the top of the charts with 4-1 and 13 points. As for Dinamo Moscow, they have completely opposite record than Lokomotiv and are at the very bottom of the standings.
One more big match was played in Round 5 of the Superliga – between the second-placed Uralochka-NTMK and third-placed Dinamo-Kazan, both with 3-1 record prior to this round. And it went into the favor of the team from Ekaterinburg easier than expected, especially knowing the fact that Uralochka lost in the previous round: 3-0 (25-20, 25-21, 25-22). Kseniya Parubets top-scored for the winning side with 23 points. Croatian Samanta Fabris made 18 points for Dinamo-Kazan.
