Third seed Uralochka-NTMK beat sixth seed Sakhalin on the road in Game 1 of the 2019/20 Superliga Parimatch playoff quarterfinals but only after coming back from 0-2 in sets and canceling a match point in the fourth set: 3-2 (24-26, 22-25, 25-23, 26-24, 15- 8). The encounter, that started in quite an unusual time for a playoff (11 AM local time), lasted for nearly two and a half hours. Thus, Uralochka lead in a series with a 1-0 and need one more win to advance to the semis. The second match will be held in Ekaterinburg on March 8. Kseniya Parubets top-scored for Uralochka with 31 points, while Ekaterina Evdokimova made as many as 9 kill blocks. Elena Tkacheva scored 19 points for Sakhalin. Taisiya Konovalova made 7 kill blocks.

Second seed and also vice-champions Lokomotiv, who simply handed over top seed to Dinamo-Kazan in the last round of the regular season, needed four sets to down seventh seed Dinamo Krasnodar and gain the 1-0 lead in the series.
