The 31-year-old libero Obmochaev resumed his career after a one-year break. The 2012 London Olympic Games gold medalist with Russia has signed for the club in his home country, Kuzbass.

At the end of 2018/19, Obmochaev left Belogorie after it turned out that the club owed him money. He was unable to find the new destination for the next season but successfully passed the tryout in Kuzbass this summer.

During his career, Obmochaev won numerous trophies: with Zenit-Kazan – Russian Championship (2011, 2012), Super Cup (2010, 2011, and 2012), and CEV Champions League (2012); with Belogorie – CEV Cup (2015 and 2018) and CEV Challenge Cup (2019). As a member of “Zbornaya”, he won the Universiade (2011), FIVB World Cup (2011), and Olympic Games (2012).
