The trophy of the 2020 Governor’s Cup of the Kaliningrad region went into the hands of the home side Lokomotiv.

On the last day of the competition, both matches ended in a tie-break. Firstly, the country’s champions Dinamo-Ak Bars defeated Uralochka-NTMK (19-25, 20-25, 25-22, 25-19, 16-14).

Such an outcome allowed Lokomotiv to play their match against the Russia National Team with no pressure. Still, they managed to prevail in front of 670 spectators (10 % of the capacity of the Sports Palace Yantarniy, maximum allowed due to COVID-19) inflicting the third defeat in as many games to “Zbornaya”. Margarita Kurilo put down 26 points for the Kaliningrad team today and was named MVP.

2020 Governor’s Cup – Day 3:

Uralochka-NTMK – Dynamo-Ak Bars 2-3 (25-19, 25-20, 22-25, 19-25, 14-16)

Russia National Team – Lokomotiv 2-3 (24-26, 25-19, 25-21, 26-28, 8-15)
