Russia coach Andrey Voronkov:

I’m very happy with the win. Our goal was to win every game here. I felt the first set was crucial to win and we did. We had to recover from mental and physical exhaustion after yesterday’s match. Our national team fought together in the World League, European Championships and now here. This tournament has proven our position as a national team.”

USA coach John Speraw:

It was a difficult match for us. They pressured us from the service line. I thought we passed well early but we didn’t get enough production from our outside hitters.. Russia has so many weapons that you have to take advantage when you have the chance and we didn’t. We lost to a better team tonight.”

Russia captain Sergey Makarov:

We played very well. We played with a lot of confidence. We had a tough time with serves by Anderson in the first set. We played better in the second half of the match. We played against some very good teams here and are now No. 2 in the world behind Brazil.”

USA captain Sean Rooney:

“We wanted to finish the tournament on a better note. We learned a lot at this event. Even though it was a difficult loss, I am really proud of this team and look forward to next summer.”
