As they edged Italy in five sets (25-22, 25-22, 23-25, 20-25, and 15-11) to open the programme of the last day of action at Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium, Brazil claimed their third consecutive – and fourth overall – FIVB World Grand Champions Cup gold medal to follow on those they had seized in 1999, 2005, and 2009.
