Russia’s Zenit-Kazan compensated the departure of Fedor Voronkov, who was ‘stolen’ by their namesakes from Saint Petersburg even though he signed the contract extension. The veteran outside hitter Yuriy Berezhko, the Olympic champion in 2012 with ‘Zbornaya’, returned to the club for which he played between 2011 and 2013. During that time, the 37-year-old player collected 83 matches for Zenit-Kazan, helping them win the 2012 CEV Champions League, the 2012 Russian Championship, and two Russian Super Cups.

Best Spiker of the 2007 CEV EuroVolley came to the ranks of the Tatarstan side from Turkey’s Galatasaray HDI Sigorta where he spent the second half of last season. In the first half of 2020/21, Berezhko wore the jersey of Dinamo Moscow.
