Yesterday, in an unofficial game, Iran won in five sets (fifth was played until 25, not 15). Today, it was the same story. Iranians were better with 3-2 (18-25, 25-23, 29-27, 24-26, 15-13).

The double friendly match was a preparation for both teams for the World Cup (September 8-23).

“The goal of the friendly games has been achieved in some tactical moves. Everything I wanted to see, I’ve seen. Two defeats – there’s nothing to worry about… Only the defeat could give us a real assessment of the situation. The national team of Iran is very good, uncomfortable opponent, I’m happy that they agreed to play. With them it’s always tough – that’s what we needed,” Russian head coach Vladimir Alekno stated after the game.
