Rookies in the European competition, Trabzon İdmanocağı, made upset in the first leg of the CEV Challenge Cup semifinals.

Turkish representatives beat Russian Zarechie Odintsovo on road after tie-break thriller 3-2 (25-13, 24-25, 21-25, 25-20, 15-13) with 16 points from Serbian Sanja Malagurski. Irina Voronkova had 33 in Zarechie!

Other Turkish team, from which, unlike İdmanocağı, was expected to achieve win, suffered a defeat.

Bursa BBSK disappointed their crowd by losing to Romanian C.S.M. București 3-1 (25-18, 16-25, 25-23, 25-22).

The Bulgarian Mariya Karakasheva led the winning team with 18 points while, on the other side, Brazilian Joyce da Silva ‘Joycinha’ had 23.

Second leg is scheduled on March 13.
