The current winners of the Balkan Men’s Volleyball Cup, Halkbank, will not be able to count on their main attacking option Fernando Hernández until the end of the year.
Due to finger injury, Cuban bomber Hernández will be sidelined for three months, meaning he will not play until the end of 2021. Halkbank reacted quickly in the transfer market and signed a periodical member of the Serbia National Team, Božidar Vučićević.
The 22-year-old opposite hitter (who wore the jersey of Slovenia’s ACH Volley Ljubljana in the last couple of seasons) was to play in Korea in 2021/22 but he didn’t meet the expectations of the Cheonan Hyundai Capital Skywalkers coaching staff during the preparation. He started the season in his home country, in Ribnica Kraljevo. In recent days, media speculated that Vučićević will join France’s Tours, but he ended up in Turkey and showed he will be an important piece of the Ankara squad already in his first match, last Sunday.
