Altekma made the biggest upset in the 2021/22 Turkish Men’s Volleyball Championship.
Altekma, the member of the ’last four’ in the standings of the 2021/22 AXA Sigorta Efeler Ligi, shocked titleholders Ziraat Bankkart in Round 13. The match was resolved in the tie-break and lasted two hours and 40 minutes, with as many as 48 minutes being reserved for the second set (37-35 for Ziraat) only! Altekma kept the same position (11) in the charts after the match, while Ziraat failed not only to temporary take over the lead but might face with even bigger lag than the current two points in relation to the leading Halkbank if the latter notches the win in the derby against Fenerbahçe HDI Sigorta, tomorrow. Altekma were led today by Brazilian Hugo Hamacher (21 points), Serbian Maksim Buculjević (four aces), and Cafer Kirkit (four blocks). Ziraat’s six-game winning streak (four-game streak in the league) is now over.
Spor Toto prevailed over Galatasaray HDI Sigorta 3-2 in the big match, while Arkas Spor interrupted their own mini-losing streak of two games after taking down Allpower Akü Cizre Bld. in straight sets. The İzmir side squeezed into the Top 4 in the charts.
