Türkiye celebrated two victories on Thursday at the Paris 2024 Olympics. The Turkish women’s volleyball team secured their second win of the tournament, defeating the Dominican Republic 3-1 (21-25, 25-18, 25-22, 25-15) at South Paris Arena 1. The match marked the return of star middle blocker Zehra Güneş, who had missed the opening game due to injury.
Güneş contributed nine points, including a pivotal block, as Türkiye overcame a slow start to take control of Pool C. Melissa Vargas led the scoring with 31 points, supported by Eda Erdem (14 points) and outside hitters Ilkin Aydin and Hande Baladin (10 points each). Dominican hitters Brayelin and Jineiry Martinez combined for 23 points but couldn’t prevent the loss.
