Juliann Faucette just joined the French volleyball club RC Cannes after playing professionally in China.
What is life like in Cannes after traveling all over the world?
“Life in Cannes is really great so far. I am enjoying being in such a well-known city and beautiful place. I played in China last year, so the lifestyle is completely different. I absolutely love Europe, so being here in France is an awesome experience.”
How has the adjustment been from China to Cannes?
“The adjustment has been really smooth. Cannes is a lot like Southern California, with the beaches and the shopping, so I feel right at home. My teammates are really sweet too, so I am getting along just fine.”
What has the training regimen been like in the first few weeks?
“The training regimen has been fairly intense with it being pre-season. I am a bit of a work horse though, so I love the long days and hard trainings. It’s fun for me. I always want to be doing something so that I don’t get bored.”
How does being part of a team help the adjustment?
“Being a part of a team really helps to get settled into a foreign place. You automatically get a group of girls to hang out with after the work day is done. And it’s especially helpful if those teammates speak the native language and can help you get around. I feel pretty lucky that this group has gelled so quickly. It’s nice to have friends in a strange and new place.”
What is coming up for you career-wise?
“Career-wise I am just enjoying my time overseas and seeing the world. I finished a hard summer with the national team and am happy with my progress as a player. I recently obtained a shoe contract with Mizuno and my website has been doing really well since it launched in late 2013. I love that I can connect with fans from every place that I have played through both my website and Facebook fan page a well. It has been a good year for me for visibility and I give all the credit to my management team, Get Sport Media. But, I think the most important thing that is happening for me right now is that I am about to get married in May! I am so excited about that next step in my life. My career is something I am proud of and will continue to work at to be great, but getting married has always been a dream of mine and to fulfill that is a blessing above all.”
