Thus, the Rainbow Warriors tied the school’s all-time single-season record with 27-5. Sophomore outside hitter from the Netherlands, Stijn van Tilburg, led Hawai’i with 20 kills, adding seven digs and six blocks, while fellow sophomore outside hitter Brett Rosenmeier added 13 kills, nine digs and six blocks. Freshman opposite Calvin Mende made 18 kills for the Pennsylvania State University.
No. 3 Brigham Young University – BYU (25-4) swept sixth seed Barton College (23-6) in the other Opening Round duel to advance to the Final Four and face No.2 California State University, Long Beach (May 4), partially 25-19, 25-11, 25-15. Brenden Sander led the Cougars with 11 kills and eight blocks.
