Semi-Final 1: Zenit KAZAN – Lokomotiv NOVOSIBIRSK| 16.03.2013 10:30 CET
It will be a bright and early start on Saturday morning as Zenit KAZAN take on the hosts Lokomotiv NOVOSIBIRSK at 10:30 CET in this all-Russian clash. Zenit KAZAN are the clear favourites to defend the title they won last season as they have simply been unstoppable throughout this competition. The hosts have the home advantage but the fans are going to have to really get behind their team if they are going to be able to inspire them to victory. The home team dominated pool B in the group stages but they haven’t played Champions League volleyball since then and may be a little rusty on this big stage. The defending champions had no problems qualifying for this Final Four as they crushed Dinamo Moscow 6-0 over two legs and they will feel that a win in this match is more than just a possibility. Semi-Final 2 : Bre Banca Lannutti CUNEO – Zaksa KEDZIERZYN-KOZLE | 16.03.2013 13:30 CET
The 2nd semi-final will be played between two teams many people perhaps didn’t expect to get this far. The Italians Bre Banca Lannutti CUNEO will take part in their first ever Final Four this weekend and they will play against Zaksa KEDZIERZYN-KOZLE, who have reached this stage for the first time in ten years. This is a match which could go either way given how hungry both teams are to reach the final. The team from Poland has the experience of playing at this level before, which may help them as the match progresses but CUNEO have quality players in every position and will not let the occasion get the better of them. Zaksa KEDZIERZYN-KOZLE knocked out last year’s Final Four participants Arkas IZMIR in a hard-fought match in the Play-Off 6 while CUNEO progressed thanks to a golden set win against MACERATA after losing the first leg 3-0. The Italians know they cannot afford to start as slowly in this match and the first set may well be crucial for both teams.
