CEV CL: DRESDNER SC fights bravely but ultimately loses to Fenerbahce

Dresden, Germany, January 17, 2012. There was a great atmosphere on Tuesday evening in Dresden as 2’600 local fans and 200 supporters for the guests of Fenerbahce Universal ISTANBUL celebrated the last game in prelim Pool B of the 2012 CEV Volleyball Champions League – Women.

DRESDNER SC fights bravely but ultimately loses to Fenerbahce

The pre-favorite Fenerbahce eventually defended its first place in the group by scoring a 3:1 win (25-23, 21-25, 25-15, 25-19) against the local heroines. 

Both teams played excellent Volleyball and the spectators in Dresden watched in the first two sets a high-class fight.

The guests took the opening set with a classy final rush (25-23).

In the second one rookie DRESDNER SC surprised the stars from Fenerbahce and drew level (25-21).

Fenerbahce set the tone in set 3 (16:11) and restored its leadership to go for a quite speedy 25-15.

The fourth set started similarly, with the guests storming out to 4:1 but the hosts fought back to 6:6.

The players from Turkey were able to answer back and play a little stronger than DRESDNER SC going up 14:9 and finishing it at 25-19.

Kim Yeon-Koung top scored for Fenerbahce with 18 points while the best player from the home team was Anne Matthes with 14.
