Castellanza, Italy, January 31, 2012. Italy’s MC-Carnaghi VILLA CORTESE will play host this Wednesday to Dinamo MOSCOW of Russia for the first round of action in the 1/8 finals of the 2012 CEV Volleyball Champions League. The Italians have embarked on their second adventure in Europe’s most elitist league hoping to make it to the very last stage after being eliminated in the Playoffs 12 last year.

“Last year we missed the opportunity to reach the Playoffs 6 by losing at the golden set to Bank BPS Fakro MUSZYNA” recalls head coach Marcello Abbondanza.

I have been watching videos of Dinamo MOSCOW for many hours trying to figure out the best way to neutralize their strengths and to exploit their weaknesses. Dinamo is surely one of the best teams in Europe and I am really impressed by the power of their block and attack. However, my team is ready for this challenge, we want to redeem our exclusion from the finals of the national cup and the best way to achieve this goal would be a classy match and win against Dinamo” he adds.

The Champions League is our absolute priority at the moment and we are totally focused on this game”.

The clash will have some special flavor for Puerto Rican Aurea Cruz who will play on Wednesday her match no. 100 for the Italian club based in the outskirts of Milan.
