For the first time since the 2000/2001 season the German champion Schweriner SC is back on the most prestigious stage of European Volleyball, the CEV Volleyball Champions League. On Tuesday evening the SSC will face the record champion from Turkey Eczacibasi Vitra Istanbul to start off the first of three home games in the CEV Volleyball Champions League group stage.
Everything is set for a great evening of top level Volleyball in front of a great crowd in the arena “Sport- und Kongresshalle”.
Eczacibasi VitrA has a great reputation due to many titles and successful seasons including 27 national championships in Turkey, 7 national cup titles and by finishing fourth twice in the CEV Volleyball Champions League.
Schweriner SC Dutch head coach Teun Buijs expects a very strong opponent on Tuesday evening: “They have great and experienced players in their line-up, for example left-hander Neslihan Demir Darnel who has a great jump-serve or the two Croatian international Maja Poljak and Senna Usic Jogunica with whom our Mira Topic once played together”.
In addition, Esra Gümüs and 35-year old Cuban-born Mirka Francia are great threats as well, as Buijs continues.
The SSC team has to show their very best Volleyball in order to deliver a great match-up to their home crowd and to be able to keep the goal alive of advancing to the next stage of the 2012 CEV Volleyball Champions League.
