Opposing one of the youngest starting six of this event (Dominican Republic wing spiker Natalia Martinez is only 12-year old), Peru led the first part of the match. Indeed the second set was decided by a fantastic battle at the net, finished 30-28.
Then something was switched off in Peru’s engine in the fourth set, with the athletes getting confused in ball control and not able to organize their game as they’ve done in the first hour of competition. On the other side a fantastic Dominican Republic Brayelin Elizabeth Martinez raided the net with authority, becoming by the end of the match the event best scorer (for a single match) with 30 points.
In the tie break, Dominican Republic continued their match domination. When it was time to swap the courts, the Caribbean were ahead 8-5 and left no chances to Peru, closing the crucial set 15-8.
