“We lost twice at the tie-break here in Cannes” says team captain Victoria Ravva. “However, we are confident that we can stop this negative trend and get back on track. Our group has been re-shaped in comparison with the past season and therefore we need some time to find and develop the right chemistry. However, we are improving and I think we displayed a good performance two weeks ago as we lost 2:3 to Vakifbank ISTANBUL” she adds.
Questioned about the home match with Volero, Ravva says: “I think this is going to be a tough game because we definitely need to win in straight sets to remain in contention for a spot in the Playoffs 12. Volero is already eliminated from the competition, so the pressure will be exclusively on our side. We hope we’ll be able to repeat the performance we delivered in Zurich where we won with a speedy 3:0”.
Once this mission is accomplished, the team will be able to look forward: “Our priority remains to make it to the Playoffs 12. Once we have made it there, we can look forward and possibly prolong our campaign. I do not know if we are capable of winning the trophy but I remain confident in our quality and skills. The situation is different than last year since our team has changed a lot and our opponents have invested in budgets that are four times higher than ours”.
Ravva praises the always loyal and passionate fans of RC CANNES: “They are our seventh player and they always support us even when we lose. Some traveled with us to Zurich and a group was even ready to join us for the away game with Uralochka in Russia. Their support is very important for the group, it motivates us to give our best”.
