The Azerbaijani star obviously can play wherever she wants, just needs a good setter and everything will be all right.

We’ve contacted Polina to talk about the current situation and as well, to talk about her plans for the upcoming summer.

How would you rate the performances in THY so far this season?

Let me first say hello to all your fans. So far this season, our team has shown not a bad result for the team that has promoted to the top division for the first time in history. Our president Mr.Ilker Aycı is a great motivator and our general secretary Mr.Ramazan Yıldırım is with us in every training. The club is new but these gentlemen have a great experience from their past story in Vakifbank. They know how to treat players and its one of the big reason for our success. I think not all the potential is revealed yet. We can do a little more than you have already seen,” explains Polina Rahimova.

What are your expectations for the third game against Fenerbahce?

This time the opponent will be more serious about our next game and be more under pressure.  We will try to give a good fight. Moreover, we have shown that it is possible to resist such large and well-equipped teams like Fener. I think the chance to win is %51 for us.”

What are the main differences between the Turkish and the Italian league?

Honestly, I did not have time to understand everything during my several months in Italy. I have already played in the Turkish Championship before and it is much more comfortable for me here. I expected more from the Italian Championship but Pomi is a volleyball club with big tradition. They treated me very well.”

How does it feel like to be back in Turkey?

I am glad that I returned to Turkey because this country is close to me. After Azerbaijan, it is possible that it is easier for me to understand the mentality and culture, as well as the values of the people of this beautiful country. I love Turkey.”

What’re your plans for the upcoming summer time?

My plans are endless. It only remains to arrange everything correctly and prioritize so I can rest and recover for the following important competitions. It is necessary to recover after a difficult season.”

Azerbaijan has ended in a tough Pool for Olympic qualifications, with Brazil, Dominican Republic and Cameroon. What does Azerbaijan need to make to reach the first place and ticket to Tokyo?

First you need to decide with the coach. The coach is already half the success of the team. Then you need to create the right conditions for players to train, rest and recover. The rest remains for the players, their character, experience and most importantly the desire to achieve.”

Where would you like to play in the next season?

At the moment I am focused on this season because I want to achieve results with this team and try my luck. What if we can earn the right amount of points and take the team to the Champions League. Who does not set huge goals, he does not achieve big ones,” says Polina at the end of the interview.
