Day 3 in the Women’s competition ended with Finland’s win over Azerbaijan. As for the Men, Estonia brought Day 3 to an end by surprisingly beating the Netherlands at home in Tartu by a 3-2 (25-22, 25-23, 19-25, 20-25, 16-14).
It was the first win for the Baltic country in the tournament which did not help them escape the last place in Pool B but it made the Dutch team a fight for the top spot in the pool more difficult. Especially, due to the fact that Spain swept Croatia on the road (3-0) yesterday. Turkey and Belarus lead Pool A and Pool C, respectively, with a perfect record after three rounds. Turkey beat Slovakia by a 3-0 while Belarus downed Ukraine in four sets, both matches were played yesterday.
Andrus Raadik was the most prolific player in the winning side with 22 points. Maarten van Garderen top-scored for the Netherlands.
