Brenda Castillo, a Dominican Republic national team libero, has been officially announced as the latest addition to the Vero Volley Milano for the forthcoming Serie A1 Women’s and CEV Champions League season. Born in 1992 in San Cristobal, the agile and quick defender, recognized for her precision in reception, is set to mark her third season in Italy after her commendable performances with Scandicci in the previous championships.
The recent Italian Serie A1 season saw Castillo deliver impressive performances, making 29 appearances and playing 80 sets with a 45% perfect reception rate, reminiscent of her debut year in Italy. The star libero brings not just her exceptional skills but also her vast experience to Milan, having competed in the Dominican, Puerto Rican, Azerbaijani, and Brazilian championships.
Internationally acclaimed for her performance, Castillo has been individually awarded 91 times, including best receiver and best defense of the Pan American Cup and numerous other leagues in which she has competed. In addition, she received recognition as the best libero at the London 2012 Olympics and the 2014 CEV Champions League. Recently, she represented her national team at the 2023 Volleyball Nations League (VNL) and Central American and Caribbean Games.
