VakıfBank SK announced signing of Canadian opposite hitter Kiera Van Ryk, the top scorer of the 2023-2024 Turkish Sultanlar Ligi season. Born on January 6, 1999, in New Westminster, Canada, Van Ryk has had a distinguished volleyball career, beginning at the University of British Columbia from 2017 to 2019, followed by a move to European volleyball with Italian team Zanetti Bergamo during the 2019-2020 season.
Having previously played for the Canadian national team and Polish club Developres Rzeszow, Van Ryk spent the last three seasons with Turkish Airlines in the Sultanlar Ligi. Her performance there, including scoring 581 points this season, has made her one of the league’s most effective players.
Van Ryk, who has been recognized as the best scorer at the NORCECA Champions Cup 2019 and the best server at VNL 2022, also earned the title of best attacker at the NORCECA Championships 2023.
