France’s Béziers extended their winning streak in all competitions to 9 games by beating Turkey’s Galatasaray at home in the 1st leg of the semifinals of the 2021 Women’s CEV Cup. The hosts were in the knockdown as they trailed by a 2-1 in sets. However, they pushed the match to the tie-break in which they prevailed and kept their hopes of advancing to the finals alive.
American Malina Terrell led Béziers’ scorers with 20 points. Believe it or not, Argentine Paula Yamila Nizetich was targeted by Galatasaray players 72 times! She responded with 68 % reception (67 % perfect). Ukrainian Olesia Rykhliuk notched 32 points, which she made through as many as 67 attacks (47 % effectiveness), while Russian Tatiana Kosheleva set up 6 blocks.
