Beating Turkey’s Fenerbahçe by a 3-1 (19-25, 25-12, 25-19, 27-25), Italy’s Novara took an important step towards qualification to the Final Four of the 2021 Women’s Champions League. The team coached by Stefano Lavarini wasn’t discouraged after a poor start (25-19 in the first set). Novara also canceled 2 set points in the 4th set and avoided a tie-break.
Caterina Chiara Bosetti was the top scorer on the winning side with 18 points. American Haleigh Washington and Cristina Chirichella dominated in the block with 6 and 5 points earned in this segment, respectively. Cuban Melissa Vargas stood out for Fenerbahçe with 29 points. The return match is scheduled for March 3 in Itala.
