CEV CUP W: Monza dominate Galatasaray in first match of final

Italy’s Saugella Monza achieved a clear win against Turkey’s Galatasaray HDI İstanbul the 1st leg of the 2021 Women’s Volleyball CEV Cup final.

Monza are halfway toward the title in the 2021 Women’s CEV Cup. The Italian side dominated Galatasaray at home in the 1st leg of the final: 3-0 (25-23, 25-15, 25-16).

The reason for Monza’s domination over the rivals from Turkey lies in the block. The Serie A side scored 17 points from this segment of which Anna Danesi was the most deserving for 6. Belgian Lise van Hecke top-scored the winning side with 17 points. Russian Tatiana Kosheleva stood out for Galatasaray with 18 points. Gizem Karadayı had 77 % reception (13 digs, 1 error, 62 % excellent).

The rematch is scheduled in Istanbul on March 23.
