Tuomas Sammelvuo won his first trophy with Russia Men’s Volleyball national team and did it only four and a half months upon being appointed to this position.

After winning the 2019 FIVB Nations League with Russia, the Finnish expert Sammelvuo shared his emotions and gratitude to everyone in Russia national team.

“I’m grateful to everyone who works in our team. The federation, the coaching staff, the doctors, and, of course, the players – we’re all one team. I’m not only looking at the result. Its equally important that we have a really strong team. In the semifinals and finals, we had very difficult moments, but no one gave up. Everyone believed in success. Im very pleased how our bench players performed,” Sammelvuo stated for Sport Ekspress.

He was asked to comment on Poletaev’s weak play in the first set.

“That’s my fault. I requested to focus a little on the other things, to play differently than we used to. Igor Kobzar distributed him fewer balls, not as usual. But that was my request. And Vitya (Poletaev) is great because he wasnt discouraged and played until the end. It’s important. We won’t always succeed, the question is how we react to it. The most important points in this game were scored by Poletaev,” the Finnish expert said and added:

“What we wanted, we achieved it. But now, we have to look further.”
