Bartosz Kurek is a new player of the 2018/19 Italian Men’s Volleyball Championship playoff quarterfinalists Vero Volley Monza!

The MVP and Best Scorer (171 points in 11 games) of the 2018 FIVB World Championship, which he won with Poland national team, Kurek, joined the 2019/20 roster Monza. A 30-year-old opposite hitter, named the 2018 best volleyball player in Europe by the CEV, came to the SuperLega side from ONICO Warszawa, with whom he became the runner-up in the Polish league.

Thus, Kurek returned to the Italian top-flight after four years as he won the Scudetto and the Italian Super Cup with Cucine Lube Civitanova in the 2013/14 season (his first season of the two with Lube). Prior to that, “Bartek” won three consecutive league titles and two Polish Cups in his home country with PGE Skra Bełchatów.

Kurek’s career in Poland national team has been crowned with three major gold medals: in the 2009 CEV European Championship, 2012 FIVB World League and 2018 FIVB World Championship. Individually, his most prominent recognitions are: the 2009 FIVB Club World Championship Best Scorer, 2009 CEV EuroVolley Best Scorer, 2011 FIVB World League Best Scorer, 2012 FIVB World League MVP, and 2018 FIVB World Championship MVP and Best Scorer.

In addition to Kurek, Monza engaged young libero Filippo Federici (Aeronautica Militare Club Italia Crai Roma, Division 2), French outside hitter Yacine Louati (Kioene Padova), and another libero – Riccardo Goi (Consar Ravenna). The club extended with the setter Tomasz Calligaro, Bulgarian middle blocker Viktor Yosifov, and Czech outside hitter Donovan Džavoronok.

TUR W: Guidetti addresses managers and families of EuroVolley U16 winners with request

I am not sure why coach Guidetti would say that. That's their livelihood they are playing at. National pride only lasts a short time then it's back to work playing for a living. Vakifbank is a perfect example of paying big $$ for top players. Do they play for pride? Get real. Motivation is always money. Reply

ECH U16 W: Turkey outplay defending champions Italy to win gold medal

the dominant champion team has only one player in dream team ?? I wonder why other teams with so many valueable(!) players sucked against the turks :D :D Reply

RUS W: Despite renewing with Dinamo Moscow, Ognjenović will join VakıfBank

Wow! Ognjenović had some heated clashes with the Vakifbank coach on court while she was playing for EcZ. I have seen in one video that she was screaming at him. Ognjenović is fiery and the captain of the National Serbia team and is considered one of the best setters (and smart) in the world. I like this move. The current setter for Vakifbank makes bad decisions(and poor sets) at bad times that caused them. Reply
