The 21-year-old Cuban opposite hitter Casanova will play in the fourth club upon deserting the national team of her country. After two experiences in France and one in Brazil (Osasco/Audax last season), she’s about to join the one-time Romanian Cup and Super Cup winners CSM Târgoviște (third in the 2019/20 championship at the moment of the season cancelation). There, Casanova will replace the club’s and league’s top scorer last season (448 points), also her compatriot, Yusleyni Herrera.
Casanova will join several more newcomers, hired to help the club win their first-ever championship title in Romania: Belgian middle blocker Dominika Sobolska (Lardini Filottrano, Italy), Ukrainian middle blocker Iryna Trushkina (Chemik Police, Poland), and Bulgarian outside hitter Gergana Dimitrova (PTT, Turkey).
The setter Diana-Ioana Calotă, middle blocker Rodica Buterez, and both liberos – Serbian Teodora Pušić e Mihaela Pamfil – renewed their contracts. Serbian head coach Dragan Nešić did the same.
