With 35 points, including 4 aces, the Russian giant Dmitriy Muserskiy led the Suntory Sunbirds to a big win in Round 9 of 2020/21 V.League Division1 regular season for men against the reigning champions JTEKT Stings. It was 3-2 in the favor of the Osaka team, partially 25-18, 17-25, 25-27, 25-15, and 15-13. Yuji Nishida scored 27 points (4 aces) on the losing side. Suntory are at the top of the charts with 8-1, while the Stings are fifth with 6-3.

The Worlfdogs Nagoya (the Pole Bartosz Kurek 24 points) noted the sixth successive victory and remained second-placed with 7-2.

The JT Thunders Hiroshima broke their own losing streak of three games by beating winless VC Nagano Tridents in five sets. Without the help of Australian Thomas Edgar but with a highlight in the form of the Chinese Taipei National Team member Chen Chien-Chen (27 points), the Thunders rejected rivals for which Indonesian Rivan Nurmulki exploded with 41 points.

The Toray Arrows prolonged their series of wins to four with the huge performance of Hungarian Krisztián Pádár, who tallied 40 points (4 blocks).
