Unlike yesterday, when they managed to overcome the absences of Ngapeth and Golubev and beat Belogorie, Zenit-Kazan failed to repeat the same outcome today.
In the match of the 22nd round of the 2020/21 Superliga Parimatch regular season for men, which was played in advance, the Belgorod side inflicted a first defeat to the team coached by Alekno – the new head coach of Iran Men’s National Team – in the competition: 3-2 (25-20, 17-25, 25-21, 21-25, 15-13). Thus, Zenit-Kazan lost a match in Superliga after nine wins but remained at the top of the charts. As for Belogorie, this was only their second victory (4 defeats) and they occupy the 11th position in the standings.
Egor Sidenko top-scored Belogorie with 16 points. Pavel Tetyukhin served 4 aces and Sergey Chervyakov made 4 blocks. In Zenit-Kazan, the Pole Bartosz Bednorz tallied 23 points, including 4 aces. Aleksandr Volkov set up 5 blocks, while Ilya Fedorov had 71 % reception (38 % excellent).
Both encounters between these opponents – yesterday and today – were held in Belgorod at the initiative of the Kazan club, which thus unloaded the calendar in order to play in the CEV Champions League.
