France survived epic thriller against Serbia in the last round of Pool K to advance into the semifinal of the 2016 FIVB World League Final Six 3-2 (25-20, 25-19, 24-26, 19-25, 15-12)! It also means that the hosts Poland are out from the tournament since they needed Serbia’s victory today.

“Team Yavbou” was on the verge to repeat failure from Round 1 when they dropped 2-0 lead in sets against Poland. Serbia showed rarely seen domination in block, (16-7), and had between 4-6 points of advantage in each set (not including the fifth) but had no answer to diversity in the attack of defending champions and coach Laurent Tillie’s timely made substitutions.

Thus, Serbia go to the semis as Pool K leaders (4 pts.), while France settled at position number 2 (3 pts). Poland remained third with 2 pts.

Top scorers: SerbiaUroš Kovačević and Srećko Lisinac 17 pts. each; FranceAntonin Rouzier 22 pts.
