The Games of the XXXIII Olympiad will see women’s beach volleyball action kick off under the iconic Eiffel Tower shortly after the men’s matches at 18:00 local time on Saturday. The opening match promises a thrilling showdown between China’s Xia Xinyi and Beijing 2008 bronze medallist Xue Chen, the reigning Asian champions, against Australia’s Tokyo 2020 silver medallists Taliqua Clancy and Mariafe Artacho Del Solar. This match sets the stage for an intense race to the Paris 2024 women’s Olympic podium.

Earlier in the day, the men’s beach volleyball tournament will commence at 14:00 local time with USA’s Miles Partain and Andrew Benesh facing Cuba’s Noslen Diaz and Jorge Alayo. This picturesque venue at the foot of the Eiffel Tower will witness fierce competition as teams vie for Olympic glory.

On the men’s side, Sweden’s David Ahman and Jonatan Hellvig, the top team in the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Ranking, lead Pool A. They face tough competition from Italy’s Samuele Cottafava and Paolo Nicolai, and Qatar’s Cherif Younousse and Ahmed Tijan. The Swedish team will play their first match against Australia’s Izac Carracher and Mark Nicolaidis on Saturday.
