French duo Lezana Placette and Alexia Richard defeated Germany’s Laura Ludwig and Louisa Lippmann in straight sets, 2-0 (21-14, 22-20) at the Paris 2024 women’s beach volleyball tournament. French team thrived on strong spiking and opponent errors to secure the victory. Richard and Ludwig were the top scorers with 14 points each.
Swiss teams also excelled, with Tanja Huberli and Nina Brunner overcoming Spain’s Daniela Alvarez and Tania Moreno 2-0 (21-12, 21-19), and Esmee Bobner and Zoe Verge-Depre delivering a surprise 2-0 (21-15, 21-14) win over Latvia’s Tina Graudina and Anastasija Samoilova. Bobner led with 19 points in their match.
In other action, Canada’s Melissa Humana-Paredes and Brandie Wilkerson defeated Paraguay’s Giuliana Poletti and Michelle Valiente 2-0 (21-16, 21-12). The U.S.’s Kristen Nuss and Taryn Kloth also won their match against Australia’s Mariafe Artacho Del Solar and Taliqua Clancy 2-0 (21-16, 21-16). China’s Xue Chen and Xia Xinyi notched their first win with a 2-0 (21-15, 21-19) victory over Canadian duo Heather Bansley and Sophie Bukovec.
