Slowly making his mark on Italy’s books is Michal Lasko, the left-handed hitter whose performance at the FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Cup is definitely getting a lot of attention.

Italy are vying for a top three finish to earn a ticket to the London 2012 Olympics, and Lasko certainly has the skills to solidify this bid. Michal has the blood, not only of an Olympian but also of a gold medallist. His father is Lech Lasko, a member of the Poland national volleyball team that won the 1976 Olympic gold medal in volleyball.

The FIVB World Cup in Japan is a step to achieve this goal to reach the Olympics and to possibly match his father’s achievement. Michal has his eyes on this goal but will try to accomplish this with his team.

His excellent performance in the different statistical departments for his team only comes secondary. His main focus is for the entire team to exert its efforts to get a podium finish.
