It was during a match against Guatemala, and after medical examinations doctors told that the player has suffered a stress fracture in his left tibia and had to go on surgery.
Surgery went well and Schmitt informed his fans on social network Twitter with these words:
“Surgery done and went well, now a proud owner of a metal rod in my shin”.
Also, Fred Winters got injured in final match of Norceca championships vs. USA.
