Can you tell us what coach Orduna meant by saying that your words hurt the team?

“I can’t say what he meant. After playing for the national team for 15 years, being the captain and one of the leaders of the team, I felt the responsibility of criticizing the level of the play of the team. He didn’t appreciate it and decided to leave me aside… “

How did you feel when you were called and being told that you are not in the team anymore? Who informed you?

“Of course, I felt devastated. He (the head coach Orduna) announced his decision in a private meeting just before the start of the training. The date was July 30.”

What did other girls say? Is it really right decision knowing that you have the World Championship ahead of you?

“The girls showed me their support in private conversations. When I spoke to them in the locker room and I asked them if anyone felt hurt because of my words, nobody said anything, so I want to thank them. I don’t share his (the head coach’s) thoughts about this decision in terms of right or wrong, I felt this situation was unfair and really sad, but now it’s time to move on.”

Will you return to the team if the Federation calls you and asks you to return?

“I’m not expecting anything right now. I love my country and it’s an honor to represent it. Also, it is very important to express my profound gratitude to Novara management and coach Barbollini because they showed all their support and for keeping in touch with me in this difficult time. This shows what a great organization they are and I can’t wait to wear their beautiful jersey”, said Paula Yamila Nizetich in an exclusive interview for WoV.
