Winning the 2016 FIVB World League certainly boosted the energy of Serbia Men’s National Team players for the next season. It includes Marko Podraščanin, one of the best middle blockers in Europe at the moment. His first challenge in 2016/2017 will be an Italian Super Cup which he already won twice but with a team against whom he will play semifinal – Cucine Lube Civitanova.
The feeling of playing versus a team where you spent eight years must be difficult…
“It will most likely be hard but I am a professional and I think I will manage to cope with that. I needed change and I think that I have made the right choice. We have very strong team and, if everything fits in, I really think this is going to be one pretty nice year for us and Perugia!” Podraščanin explained the reasons for leaving Lube.
What are your impressions on the new club?
“Everyone embraced me exceptionally. I knew most of my new teammates and staff members from before. The club made huge progress in last few years and, besides (coach) Kovač who is one of the best and most respected coaches in the world, it attracted me to make a change after eight years in Lube,” Serbian middle blocker speaks honestly.
How do you like new format of Italian Super Cup?
“I think it is more interesting like this for both us and the fans because top four Italian teams participate and everybody can expect three high quality and interesting games. At the same time, winning Super Cup is our first goal in the season so we will do our best to achieve it,” Podraščanin concluded.
