Poland beat Japan in the 2019 Montreux Volley Masters final to win their first-ever title in the tournament. Poland prevailed in fours sets, taking two of them with authority: 25-15, 22-25, 25-17, 26-24.
Malwina Smarzek was on fire in the gold medal encounter, poring in 28 points, while Zuzanna Efimienko-Młotkowska set up as much as 7 kill blocks. As a team, Poland set up 18. In Japan, Yurie Nabeya and Miwako Osanai scored 15 points apiece.
The Last year’s Montreaux Volley Masters winners Italy earned bronze medal this time, beating Thailand in straight sets.
