We have made an interview with the Colombian player, who is currently preparing for the new season with Tourcoing.
How’s it going with the preps?
„We started with the preps on 20 of August and it was really hard like all preps. A lot of work at the gym and volleyball drills also. On the other hand, it is so good because that gives me my level so fast and I become stronger. Now we are playing friendly games, we are starting to learn to play together like a team and that is really important.“
Is your team’s roster stronger compared with the last season?
„Well, this season we have a lot of young players who like to work hard and I think in this season we can make a good job we will be stronger than any year if we do play like a team and I also think we can make it happen.“
In the season 2018/2019, Tourcoing didn’t reach the playoffs. What you and your teammates need to do to make it in the upcoming season?
„In the last season, we missed three points to get to the playoffs. To beat the rivals we just need to work hard every day like we are playing in the final and to set our teamwork to the maximum level. That’s what we need to do.“
It will be your fourth season in this team. How does it feel like to be a member of Tourcoing?
„Yes it is my fourth season here, I like that team, like the coach and like the persons that work here. They are really kind and I appreciate that. I feel like at home here, the city is great. I will do everything to push the team to good results.“
Since you’ve spent a few seasons in France, do you think that league is making progress year by year?
„When I arrived in France I played in Sant Nazaire and all I can say that the level of the league is improving year by year. Some really good players are coming here in France that make the league stronger. Also, the French players are really good and I think this league will be just stronger and stronger.“
What are your plans for the future regarding your volleyball career?
„My plan now is to have a really good season. I will try to give all of me, firstly to contribute to the team results and hope that will be a big step towards some stronger league such as Poland or Italy. Also, I would like to play in Korea or China one day. It’s all in the hand of God,“ says Ronald Jimenez at the end of the interview with WorldofVolley.
