Lube started excellent. With Dragan Stanković on fire home team came to 4-1 advantage, then 7-2. But, Zenit is just too good to surrender that easily. Point by point difference was melting, and Russia squad was even leading 20-21. However, turned again to 22-21, kept distance till 24-23, and then claimed first set ball. Podraščanin strong serve prevented good attack of Zenit. Mikhailov was just able to place the ball into the net.

Second set was marked by Ivan Zaytsev. Italian receiver was first led Macerata to 8-3, then made quite an effort to keep that point difference in spite Russian attacks. And, eventually it was Zaytsev who finished the set. His spike brought 2-0 for home team.

Third set was maybe the less exciting. Lube again started much better, had 8-6 at first TTO, then 16-11 at second. Zenit just managed to get two pints behind at 20:18, but Marko Podraščanin’s spike ended Russian hopes of turnaround.

Ivan Zaytsev was far the best in Lube with 20 points and Bartosz Kurek added 17. Maxim Mikhailov (15) and Matthew Anderson (10) were the only with two digits in Zenit.
