SACC M: Sada Cruzeiro Claims Seventh Consecutive Title at the South American Men’s Club Championship

Sada Cruzeiro and Itambé Minas secured their spots in the FIVB Club World Championship, scheduled for November in India, by entering the South American Men’s Club Championship Grand Finals.

At the Mário Brum Negreiros Gymnasium in Araguari, Sada Cruzeiro defeated Itambé Minas in four sets, with scores of 25-22, 25-19, 22-25, and 25-17. This victory marked Sada Cruzeiro’s seventh consecutive title and ninth South American trophy, further impressing volleyball enthusiasts. The team had previously won in 2012, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2022, adding another championship to their impressive record in 2023.

Player of Sada Miguel Ángel López was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) and was also the top scorer in the final, with 22 points. Following him were Gabriel Vaccari with 15 points and Welinton Oppenkoski, who was named the best opposite, with 14 points. Luis Elián Estrada Mazorra scored 14 points for Itambé Minas.

In an exciting match, Araguari Vôlei, led by Luiz da Silva and Kadylac, won third place in the South American Men’s Club Championship for the first time. The team won the medal against Ciudad Voley after five sets, with scores of 25-22, 20-25, 25-16, 18-25, and 15-13.

The 23rd edition of the South American Men’s Championship started last Wednesday (03/15) in Araguari with nine clubs: three Brazilian teams – Sada Cruzeiro, Itambé Minas, and Araguari Vôlei – three Argentinian teams – Ciudad Voley, UPCN, and Policial Voley – as well as Bohemios from Uruguay and Policial, Club Olympic, and Club Murano from Chile.
