In a press conference at the Baluan Sports and Culture Palace, Jerkov said the team did their homework ahead of the match.

“We knew how to work the game in order to put them in this position,” Jerkov said. “I think as much as they say they played poorly, we played really well.”

Australia is a very good team, they just didn’t show it today,” Jerkov added.

Croatia coach Angelo Vercesi likewise expressed his admiration for the opposing team.

“We played with much concentration,” Vercesi said. “We respect the team of Australia. How we see this respect is that there is no comfortable way to win. If you relax a little, they can complicate the game.”

Australia coach Mark Barnard shared that they learned a very important lesson in the match.

“When you can’t pass, it’s very difficult to play,” Barnard said. “We were unable to use our middle attack at all. Croatia was able to block well on the left side, on the right side. For us, we didn’t have the hitters to get the ball on the floor.”
