Japan coach Masayoshi Manabe: “Whenever we play against the Serbia team, we are always impressed by their power and height; today is no exception and we learn a lot from them. We are very happy with today’s game and the win.”

Japan captain Saori Kimura: “We are very happy with the win, the team is in good condition and we hope the win will give us the momentum to continue to play well tomorrow”.

Serbia coach Zoran Terzic: “First of all, I would like to congratulate the Japan team; they played very well and deserve the win. Usually, when we played against Japan, the games are interesting and of good quality. Unfortunately tonight, this wasn’t the case as we did not play well. The team lacked motivation, energy and courage. I hope we can change something in our game tomorrow especially in our attitude and to play better in the match against China.”

Serbia captain Maja Ognjenovic: “Congratulations to Japan, they played very well especially in their defense. We are very disappointed; we did not start well and made many mistakes especially in our serves. We hope to get into the game against China tomorrow and to play our best.”
